Description
Hi everyone and welcome to my first eCook book offering a baker’s dozen of my favourite cakes and staples on my Margaret River Guest House afternoon tea menu.
These recipes are inspired by those in my life that influenced my love for baking from a very early age.
I have fond memories of watching my Nan baking and cooking during my childhood, but the biggest influence has come from my mother in law Pat. She would have her table laden with cake, biscuits and slices every Sunday in readiness for her 6 children, their significant others and grandchildren to descend on the small family home in Bayswater, Western Australia. To this day it still amazes me how she fitted us all around a small table in an even smaller kitchen, but fit we did with pots of tea, cups of coffee and lots of noise, while we ate everything in sight and caught up on family gossip.
Back then my first introduction was when I was just 17, barely a child myself. This social get to get her every weekend has forever left a legacy in my heart for a love from a mother to her family through cooking everyone’s favourite cakes.
The recipes in this eBook are staples on our guest house’s after noon tea table and enjoyed by many guests over the years. I believe you don’t always need an occasion to bake a cake. In fact, just baking a cake can be an occasion in itself and an easy way to make an ordinary day feel extra special while evoking memories of someone special.
While none of my recipes are overly difficult, they are all delicious and a memory of my favourite family or friends baking.
